Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress; and, to promote health and wellness. Massage therapy improves functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) means “universal energy” in Japanese. Thought to have begun in Tibet thousands of years ago, Reiki was introduced to the western world during the 1920’s. It is a healing technique used to alleviate stress, enhance relaxation, and heal the body from illness, injury or even from the side effects of drug therapies, such as chemotherapy. Because Reiki treatment is balancing at every level, it can help anyone who is interested enough to experience a treatment. If you are tired, you’ll feel refreshed. If you are anxious, you’ll feel serene. If you are distressed, you’ll feel comforted. Where you feel overwhelmed, you’ll find a renewed sense of self. And these subjective changes will be accompanies by physical changes indicative of deep relaxation, such as a slower heart rate and easier breathing. Most people notice a difference after the first treatment, and the benefits grow with repeated sessions.

Reflexology

Simply put, reflexology is an ancient Chinese technique that uses pressure-point massage (usually on the feet, but also on the hands and ears) to restore the flow of energy throughout the entire body. The science of Reflexology has been around for thousands of years. It is based on the premise that there are reflexes in our hands, feet and ears that relate to every organ and part of our body. By stimulating these reflexes with pressure and manipulation, nerve function and blood supply may be improved, which may alleviate stress and other health problems. Reflexology is based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. Stimulating specific reflex points in the feet can bring needed nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body. This can help restore balance throughout the body.
