Latisse® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is a prescription strength treatment used to grow and lengthen lashes, and make them thicker and darker. Latisse® is an FDA approved product developed by the well-known Allergan pharmaceutical company.
How Latisse® Works
Latisse® increases eyelash growth with an active ingredient called Bimatoprost, which is known to affect the Anagen (growth phase) of hair. Latisse® is suggested to prolong this growth phase and increase more hair follicle growth in the area.
How to Use Latisse®
Once nightly ensure the face is clean, makeup and contact lenses are removed, and any other facial care products have been applied. Then, carefully apply one drop of Latisse® to the disposable sterile applicator supplied in the package and apply evenly along the skin of the upper eyelid at the base of the eyelashes. The upper lid in the area of lash growth should feel lightly moist without run off. Blot any excess solution run off outside the upper eyelid with a tissue. Dispose of the applicator after one use, and then repeat for the opposite upper eyelid using a new sterile applicator.
Latisse® Safety Information
Do not reuse applicators and do not use any other brush/applicator to apply Latisse®. DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid. If you are using Lumigan or other products in the same class for elevated intraocular pressure, or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use Latisse® under the close supervision of your doctor.
Avoid Allowing the tip of the bottle or applicator to contact surrounding structures, fingers, or any other intended surface in order to avoid contamination.
Tell your doctor if you have experienced any eye pressure problems. In rare cases Latisse® may cause increased brown pigmentation of the iris or darkening of the eyelids. The most common side effects of Latisse use are itchy eyes and/or eye redness.
